Joining a flower of the month club

If you are thinking of joining a flower of the month club, or thinking of signing up someone for a gift of monthly flowers, what can you expect to get? Are all flower of the month clubs much the same? What periods can you sign up for, whether it is for yourself, for a gift, or for a corporate membership?

Let's try to answer those questions.

You can take it for granted that all such clubs will be supplying fresh-cut and seasonal flowers, once a month, for the period you choose. Usually you would sign up for a period of three months, six months or a year, with the option to cancel at any time. Most flower clubs can also arrange for flowers to be delivered once every three months, in a 'flower of the season' arrangement. This may be worth considering, as the flowers will be completely different each time they are received through the seasons.

Some flower clubs also offer exotic flowers as well as seasonal ones - things like specialty tropical flowers, orchids, anthuriums and similar blooms. Often flower clubs will source their flowers from overseas.

Make sure you are clear about the size of the flower arrangements which will be sent - the best clubs feature only full-size arrangements, similar to those used in the public spaces in business offices, law firms and so on.

When you sign up with a flower of the month club, check that the price you are paying includes delivery, and there is no further charge for shipping.
